Easter Camp Cooking Fest

Camp Oven cooking was the call of the day this Easter. On the Sunday night we had a total camp fire cook off and we ate like kings! With everything from damper, roast lamb, smoked baked spuds, lamb chops, curries, grilled sweet potato, smoked tomato chutneys, rice and cooked on the coals rib fillet (with smoked oyster sauce I might add!).

    I know just how wonderful camp cooking is, we ( 6 of us) have just arrived home from a 6 weeks great culinary experience cooking all our meals in our camp ovens and without a doubt making our holiday the cheapest and most fun ever. We had roast lamb, roast, pork, roast turkey roll all with roast veges, lamb casseroles, pumpkin & vege soups, upside down cakes (caramelized pear (yum) & apple), scones, and various savoury & sweet dampers not to forget the pizzas. We even have a vase (used wine bottle) with any coloured flora found nearby (legal picking only) and a citrus candle adorning our shared table to add to the ambience of our meal. We often had fellow travellers in the camp area visiting us, being enticed by the wafting aromas. Can’t wait for our next get-a-way. Great site thank you for letting us share with you.
